07 July 2016 - Hettich celebrates 50 years of Patek Philippe

Some moments deserve to be celebrated. For the Jersey family run jewellery business Hettich, it's a phrase that rings true from their beginnings in 1900 right through to today. And as Hettich celebrates a milestone anniversary with the world's leading watchmaking house, Patek Philippe, it couldn't be more relevant. To mark the occasion, Patek Philippe has produced a very exciting and exclusive Patek Philippe World Time Ref. 5130J Hettich Jersey Special series limited edition watch that carries the Hettich name and colours and replaces London with St. Helier as the key central location. Hettich's Jeffrey Chinn said, 'Only fifteen of the yellow gold World Time watches will be made, and with their special green guilloche centre, green alligator strap and marked with Hettich Jersey 2016, they represent a unique opportunity to capture a moment in time.'

Hettich's relationship with the Swissbased watchmaker Patek Philippe dates back to 1966, when the company's president, Henri Stern first established a link with Hettich's Tony Chinn as an exclusive supplier of their intricate timepieces in the Channel Islands. Hettich was one of only a handful of Patek Philippe watch retailers in the UK, and as the years have continued, the relationship between Patek Philippe and Hettich has only strengthened.

In the early years, Patek Philippe president Henri Stern would regularly visit Jersey. Over the following decades the relationship between the two familyrun companies has grown from strength to strength, recognising their shared ethos of professional excellence, exceptional attention to detail and vitally for both familyrun businesses, the importance of family values. Antony Chinn said, 'It always meant a lot to us to get to know the Stern family and add to our business relationship.'

Today, the role of Patek Philippe President has passed to Henri Stern's grandson, Thierry Stern, but the relationship with the Chinn family is still just as strong. President Thierry Stern said: 'We are a familyrun company who feel a great amount of pride in our exceptionally crafted watches. it's important to us that our retailers all carefully selected continue to speak in our voice and to continue the Patek Philippe traditions. This significant milestone with Hettich Jewellers represents an opportunity to share with a company that shares our values and our vision. We're delighted to be celebrating together.'

The 50th celebration was marked by a gala dinner in the Great Hall of Jersey's Victoria College where the limited edition Patek Philippe World Time Ref. 5130J Hettich Jersey Special series was launched by Patek Philippe President Thierry Stern to 100 of Hettich's customers and friends. The Patek Philippe World Time Ref. 5130J Hettich Jersey Special series watch can be viewed at Hettich Jewellers, and to see it for yourself, contact Jeffrey or Nicholas Chinn by calling 01534 734491 or email info@hettich.co.uk
