Brilliant results in the Diamonds for Jubilee competition
Hettich Jewellers say they have been 'overwhelmed' by the
response to their Diamonds for Jubilee competition which asked
members of the public to create a design for a piece of jewellery
to celebrate the Queen's Jubilee. Entries for the competition,
which was open to anyone over the age of 16, have been arriving
daily at Hettich's King Street shop, and have come from local
budding artists as well as professional designers.
Jeffrey Chinn, Hettich's Director said: "When we first came up
with the idea of a jewellery design competition, we had no idea it
would spark such creativity and emotion. Each designer has taken a
unique approach to this wonderful event, creating concepts that not
only capture the spirit and the significance of the Queen's
Jubilee, but also demonstrate how much artistic talent exists here
in Jersey. We've been overwhelmed by the response and would like to
thank each of the entrants who have created such a wonderful array
of Jubilee-inspired jewellery designs."
Over the next few days, a panel of judges from the Royal Asscher
Diamond Company, Jersey Hospice Care and Hettich will have the
difficult task of selecting a winning design, which will then be
brought to life using 60 Royal Asscher diamonds - one for each year
of the Queen's reign. The finished piece of jewellery will be
auctioned at The Snow Queen Ball on 20th October with
all the proceeds going to Jersey Hospice Care. As well as seeing
their design brought to life, the winning entrant will receive a
Hettich voucher for £250 and an invitation to The Snow Queen Ball
in aid of Jersey Hospice Care.
Commenting on the initiative, Lynsey Beahan, Jersey Hospice
Care's Fundraising Manager said: "We are delighted that Hettich has
decided to support Jersey Hospice Care in this way. All our
services are offered free of charge, so we rely heavily on the
generosity of supporters such as Hettich to help us continue to
offer the care we give. I am very much looking forward to seeing
the designs and the final design is sure to be a stunning
piece."
Details of the winning entry in the Diamonds for Jubilee design
competition will be released shortly.
